SGI fremde Monitore / Sync on Green

Hallo,
bei mir ist beim Lesen diverser Quellen im Internet zum Thema Monitoranschluß der Eindruck entstanden, ein Monitor muß sync on green unterstützen, damit man ihn an einer SGI betreiben kann. Das ist nicht so, ich habe den Stecker meines Highscreen MS1575 durch einen 13W3 ersetzt und es funktioniert einwandfrei, nachdem ich auch H/V sync angeschlossen habe. Der Monitor unterstützt kein sync on green.
Die gemachte Erfahrung bezieht sich auf eine "solid impact" grafikkarte.
Mit der XZ einer Indigo2 werde ich es auch noch probieren.

 It says clearly in the SGI Tech Handbook that some systems (I'm sure about O2/Indy/Indigo2) have H- and Vsync signals on the 13w3 connector, so most sources on the internet are wrong .

The only problem is with some non-SOG monitors is that the sync signal is added to the green channel and causes the screen to be much greener than intended. But I don't think your Highscreen monitor is affected by that, you would have noticed for sure.

Ok, habs mit der XZ grafik einer Indigo2 ausprobiert und das klappt auch.

I read in the manpage of setmon that sync can be applied to any combination of R, G and B. I had a configuration showing a much greener screen, but i switched off SOG with setmon and everything was ok.
