Hallo Joerg,
Christoph
Hi, Christoph:
Thanks for your inquiry.
http://hogranch.com/mayer/README.html (the
same link via you apparently got the source code) has all the
information you need to sign up for a GIMPS account and go through the
manual-exponent-reservation-and-results-report process for either
Glucas or Mlucas.
I see on the
http://www.irixworld.net/download/Mlucas/ link that you
were apparently able to run the Mlucas self-tests and thus create an
mlucas.cfg file, but the two sample .stat file indicate a problem with
the radix-20 carry routines - this kind of thing is not terribly
uncommon with optimizing compilers, we hope that even if there's a
build problem (I have fixed all the known source problems) with one of
the FFT-radix routines we can simply use an alternate combination of
working FFT radices for the same FFT length. You'll notice that none of
the FFT radix sets indexed in the .cfg file begins with the problematic
radix-20. So you should be ready to get some exponents from the
primenet server, copy them into your worktodo.ini file and begin
testing - but you should use whichever of Glucas and Mlucas runs best
on your hardware - the mlucas.cfg file tells me how fast Mlucas runs at
various FFT lengths - did you also gathehr some sample Glucas timings?
Also, what hardware did you run your self-tests on and what build flags
did you use?
Cheers,
-Ernst

Subject: Glucas / Mlucas - Installing
Dear Ernst,
after reading some articles about the lastest findings of the
"gimps"-project I wanted to joint my SGI-Octane in the search. As I am
quit new to compiling etc. I ask the members of the German SGI-Fan side
mood-indigo (
www.mood-indigo.org) if someone can compile your scource
code (
http://www.mood-indigo.org/index.php/topic,3786.0.html).
We compiled the code successfully for Glucas
(
http://www.irixworld.net/download/Glucas/ ) and Mlucas
(
http://www.irixworld.net/download/Mlucas/ ).
Currently I was only successful starting the Glucas e.g Glucas -s
primenet and the testing is ok.
What do I have to do to join the gimps-project so that I receive
original date for testing and returning checked data?
Many greetings
Christoph
